Short biography (Thomas De Baets)

Thomas De Baets (°1982) is lecturer and researcher in music pedagogy at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven (Belgium). He is the leader of the music education research group at the Lemmensinstituut; and the coordinator of the research team music education laboratory (melab.be) at the University of Leuven. He holds a master degree in music pedagogy (2005) and a degree of advanced studies in music pedagogy (2008). Since 2007, he is a PhD-researcher in the arts at the University of Leuven. He completed the doctoral training programme docARTES at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent (2009). He was a music teacher in a secondary school in Leuven between 2005 and 2009. He is a board member and the treasurer of the European Association for Music in Schools since 2009.
