Short biography


Dr. Sabina Vidulin-Orbanić is Assistant Professor in Music Education at the University of Juraj Dobrila in Pula, Departement of Music, Section of Music Pedagogy.

EDUCATION:
She graduated at the University of Education in Pula (Department of Music Culture, MA). Vidulin-Orbanić has a master's degree in Music pedagogy (M. Sc.), a doctoral degree in education (PH.D.), and a degree in teacher mentoring and teacher counselling for music education.
She received the prestigious state reward Ivan Filipović for promoting pedagogical practice and theory.

WORK EMPLOYMENT:
From 1995 till 2008 she was employed as a teacher of music in primary school in Rovinj. She taught music culture in primary school, from 4th to 8th grade, led a children choir, music composing, music and drama playing, playing synthesizer and she established the singing school festival.
In 1997 she has also started working at the Department of Music in Pula, first as a subcontractor and then in 2006 on fulltime work. She  leads the courses: Didactics of music, Methodical practice in music and Music Pedagogy.
For ten years she led students' practice in schools, made presentations and demonstrated the modern way of teaching music in school. She was a leader and supervisor for music teachers.

RESEARCH WORK, PUBLISHING, REVIEW
Sabina Vidulin-Orbanić has given over seventy lectures, presentations and workshops at professional and scientific conferences and symposiums, and undertaken research work in music educational field. She published a songbook, a monograph on Musical Extracurricular Activities, over twenty-five professional and scientific articles about curricula, music lessons, teaching strategy, creativity in school, singing in school, playing keyboard, then several supplements in daily papers and school papers and four CDs with children's songs. She reviewed music textbooks, music programmes for pre-school children and a hand-book for music and computers.
She was a guest lecturer in Bosna i Hercegovina, Slovenija and Kosovo during 2009 and 2010.

She is preparing two new books: one about educational technology, and the second about contemporary schooling and music lessons.


COMMISION, DUTY:
Vidulin-Orbanić is a commision member of professional state examination for music culture, music art and solfeggio, producer of Mali Histria festival – festival of music creativity, president committee in the realization of the First (2009) and Second (2011) International Symposium of Music Pedagogy in Pula (Croatia) and editor-in-chief of collected paper “The music pedagogy in the light of present and future changes” and “Music teaching and educational technology: opportunities and restrictions”. From 2010 she is a EAS (European Association for Music in Schools) national coordinator for Croatia.

AWARDS:

  • 2010 – Award for development and promoting Music Department (30 anniversary of Music Department, Section of Music Pedagogy in Pula)
  • 2009 - Prestigious state reward Ivan Filipović for promoting pedagogical practice and theory (Ministry of Science, Education and Sports)
